
Understanding Kenyan Visas
Kenya offers several types of visas tailored to different travel needs. Before applying, determine the visa category that best suits your purpose:
- Single Entry Visa – For tourism, business, or medical visits, valid for up to 90 days.
- Transit Visa – Issued for travelers passing through Kenya, valid for up to 72 hours.
- East Africa Tourist Visa – Allows travel between Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda for up to 90 days.

Required Documents

- Valid Passport – Must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel.
- Completed Visa Application Form – All details must be accurate and up to date.
- Passport-Sized Photos – Recent, taken against a plain background.

Application Process
All Kenyan visa applications must be submitted online via the eCitizen portal. Follow these steps:
- Register on the eCitizen portal – Go to eCitizen and create an account.
- Select “Department of Immigration Services” – Click on Visa Application.
- Choose Visa Type – Read instructions carefully and select your visa category.
- Fill in the Application Form – Provide accurate personal details and upload required documents.
- Pay the Visa Fee – Payments can be made via Visa card, Mastercard, or other debit cards.
- Wait for Approval – Processing takes approximately 2 to 3 business days, but may vary.
- Download and Print the eVisa – Once approved, log in to your eCitizen account, download and print your eVisa.
- Present eVisa at the Port of Entry – Show the printed eVisa to immigration officers upon arrival in Kenya.

- Visa fees are non-refundable.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Holding an eVisa does not guarantee entry—immigration officers have final discretion.
